[Snack] Ho BBang(호빵) - The Korean style hot bun

There are certain type of food very famous for certain season.

In korea, especially winter is the best season for various delicious snacks and cuisine.

One of the very best among the best is "Ho BBang(호빵)", the Korean style hot bun.

 

Ho BBang(호빵) is consisted of two letters as you see. 호 represents blowing motion for a hot food to cool down, and 빵 is french word "Pain" meaning 'bread'. So 호빵 means 'a hot bread' you have to blow to cool it down. :)

Original Ho BBang(호빵) is made of sweet red bean paste, called "Dan Pat(단팥)". but as this snack gets more popular, manufacturers introduced different types for various preferences. The three most famous one is the original, pizza flavor, and vegetable flavor. The vegetable flavor is not for the vegans by the way. This tastes very similar to regular dumplings. As you can see on the picture above, the vegetable flavor has grounded pork meats.

My favorite one is the pizza flavor. It does not have cheese, but has enough tomato sause and meats, which tastes similar to margarita pizza. This is the best snack for you between meal times. I guess young kids would love this flavor as well.

Cooking is even more simple. Get it out from fridge. Put it on a microwave. cook it for 30 seconds(50 seconds for two buns). This snack is available on every markets in Korea, including Emart, Lotte, and even small markets & convenience stores. Also, if you use Coupang.com, they ship it to your door within two days(one day if you use the 'rocket fresh').
